Purpose: To provide faculty with top notch education and resources around leadership, community collaboration, and curriculum development, so they can deliver high-quality learning experiences to nursing students. This will in turn benefit community organizations, stakeholders, residents of North Carolina, and improve the overall quality of nursing practice.
Program Scope: The Invest in Nursing Faculty Fellowship is a one-year program consisting of two on-site visits, two and a half days each in length, as well as, on-line workshops, resources, and an innovative project. There will be a combination of group instruction, experiential workshops, networking, and mentorship opportunities aimed at providing the learning experiences necessary to excel as leaders; both in the classroom and in promoting and fostering clinical partnerships. Sessions will focus on professional leadership and curriculum development.
Program Schedule: The 2019-2020 fellows must be able to attend both on-site sessions to participate in the program. The dates are August 12th – 14th, 2019 and May 18th – 20th, 2020.
Compensation: The workshops and stay during the leadership retreat will be covered by the program. Faculty Fellows will be responsible for their own travel expenses.
Selection Criteria: The Invest in Nursing Faculty Fellowship program is being offered to faculty members from early to mid-career level, teaching pre-licensure nursing students at accredited schools of nursing across the state of North Carolina. The 2019-2020 application cycle is closed. The 2020-2021 application cycle will open in Spring 2020. Faculty making a commitment to applying for the Invest in Nursing Fellowship should be able to attend all the on-site sessions in August 2020 and May 2021, exact dates TBD.
