The Invest in Nursing grant has had great success over the past three years in the partnership between UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing and Piedmont Health Services, Inc., with three cohorts of Student Scholars from UNC Chapel Hill, and with three cohorts of Faculty Fellows from across the State of North Carolina. This program is a time-limited grant funded opportunity, provided by the Health Resources and Services Administration, and will no longer continue programming in this current iteration after the 2021-2022 cohort year. It is our hope that other educational entities will use Invest in Nursing as a blueprint for implementing similar programming. Reach Out

Kassiane Wehbie, BSN

Graduate Assistant

Kassiane is a graduate from North Carolina State University. After graduation she worked in quality compliance and began pursing a nursing career by volunteering at hospitals and taking prerequisite courses. Her goal of becoming a nurse became tangible as she enrolled in UNC’s ABSN program. She spent her time on an array of projects to learn more about research, quality improvement, and data analysis, volunteering at SHAC, and traveling. Now as an inpatient Oncology Nurse, she frequently interacts with patients later in their spectrum of care. Unfortunately, this care is reactive and often chases symptoms to alleviate suffering. Her experience working with this population has formed a passion to join a team that focuses on preventative care and the impact on illness trajectory.
